Assalamu Alaikum and welcome one and all to my cute corner on the web!

I'm pleased to know that you would like to know more about me. I'm Shaima Anis, the genius behind this site - Webmaster, Editor and Owner, all rolled into one. I'm an Indian living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) ever since I was born. I completed my schooling from KSA and have now returned to India to join College (University). That was about my academic life.

Perhaps you would be more interested in knowing why I created this site in the first place. I don't think that's very simple to answer, but I'll give it a go.

Ever since I was 12 or 13 years of age, I took a liking to the phrase that the pen was mightier than the sword. I would love penning down articles and poetry. When in the mood, I love to write. I have also won prizes in the Essay competitions held in my school and college, Alhamdulillah. Some of the articles here were written by me a lot earlier than when the site was first launched, that is on the 6th of July, 2003. I needed an outlet and a place of my own to display my articles and receive constructive criticism. These days, however, due to college I find it almost difficult to find some spare time to sit and write. It would be one lucky day when I am able to do it again.

In addition, I wanted to make a site that could be useful to people. So, this site contains my writings as well as contributed ones from my friends and other wonderful people who choose to do so. In addition, there are other interesting articles. That was how this site, The Open Space, was born.

Also present on this site are quizzes, games, stories and more. I would like you to know, that submissions of any kind are welcome. So please send them in! And yes, you are welcome to contact me with your queries and comments.
